Make Someone Internet Famous with “Lucky Star: Net Idol Master”

luckystar-netidol1The anime and manga series Lucky Star has a new video game for the PSP coming out this winter. Its theme: a parody of THE iDOLM@STER, a popular video game series where you, as the manager of a pop music group, train your cadre of amateur idols into lean, mean, singing and dancing machines. The catch is that the girls you’ll be pushing to the top are Izumi Konata and friends, and your goal is to make them the greatest superstars on the internet.

A deluxe edition of the game is available, which includes a t-shirt, a scarf/towel, a stick balloon, a headband, and a glow stick set.

iDOLM@STER is published by Namco Bandai and is very popular in Japan, accounting for a significant portions of downloads on X-Box Live there. Lucky Star meanwhile is no stranger to parody, its manga by Yoshimizu Kagami, and its anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation are rife with references to otaku culture both old and new.

Lucky Star: Net Idol Master is set to be released in Japan on December 23, 2009.
