Life-Size Odaiba Gundam Taken Down, No Zeong Head in Sight

After wowing anime fans around the globe, celebrating 30 years of newtypes and colony drops,  and acting as the site of possibly the nerdiest wedding ceremony of all time, the 1:1 scale RX-78-2 “original” Gundam in Odaiba, Japan has seen its last day. As much as you and I want this hero of justice to stay tall forever, even the original Gundam series tells us that good things don’t last forever. Sadly, there were no plans to pose the Gundam headless with its gun pointed towards the sky, but to know it once stood in our reality is more than enough.

Bandai is going to be releasing a 1/144-scale Gundam model based on the 1/1 Odaiba Gundam in further commemoration of Gundam’s 30th Anniversary. Yes, they are making a scale model of a life-size model that was probably partially based on a scale model of a Gundam. No one ever said Bandai didn’t know how to make a profit.odaibagundamfinal
