This summer, the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime franchise is celebrating its 10^th Anniversary by taking all three of its heroes, Mutou Yuugi (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters), Yuki Judai (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX), and Fudou Yuusei (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s), and combining them into a single story. Yuugi himself has already appeared in the GX series on more than one occasion, so it remains to be seen just how and why these three come together.

The anime crossover special has a long and proud tradition, beginning primarily with the Nagai Go series of giant robot/hero crossovers. This past April, the Pretty Cure franchise saw its many colorful heroines join forces in a movie celebrating the franchise’s 5^th Anniversary.

Prior to the debut of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Toei Animation created its own, albeit unsuccessful, series titled simply Yu-Gi-Oh!
